SPECIFICATION FOR OPTIMIZED GRADED CONCRETE For Flowable Applications

Introduction
After evaluating almost 200 concrete mixtures for flowable concrete applications, our research team used the data to develop a specification for general ready-mix type concrete.  Below is the recommended specification.
PictureFigure shows the minimum and maximum limits.
Aggregate Specification          

· The combined gradation must be within the boundary limits for each sieve size

· The total volume of coarse sand (#8-30) must be a minimum of 20%.                          
· The total volume of fine sand (#30-200) must be within 25% and 40%.
· Limit the flat or elongated coarse aggregate to 15% or less at a ratio of 1:3 according to                                             ASTM 4791.
